These Hudson Valley High Schools Ranked Among Worst In State For 2018 Graduation Rates

In New York, 80.4 percent of students who started the 9th grade in 2014 graduated in June last year, according to recently released state records. That mark is a slight increase from 2017, when 80.2 percent of students graduated.

NewYorkUpstate.com highlighted some of the state’s lowest graduation, citing data from each school that graduated more than 50 students. The list includes the number of students who began 9th grade in 2014, but only features districts north of Westchester and Rockland counties.

Among the school districts featured in the report with the lowest graduation rates include:

  • Poughkeepsie High School (seventh overall), with a graduation rate of 47 percent. The report states that 277 students enrolled, while 77 remain enrolled.
  • Newburgh Free Academy (45th), with a graduation rate of 79 percent. The report states that 777 students enrolled, while 98 remain enrolled.
