The contest was sponsored by the National Restaurant Association and reached 118,000 students in 1,700 high schools across all 50 states.

BOCES instructor Suzanne Pratt who coached the team explained that students participated in “real-world restaurant experiences.”

“Our students proved that they have what it takes to make it in the real world when they created ‘Mediterranean Made,’ a restaurant business plan for the competition,” Pratt said. “The concept caught the attention of judges, as well as professionals in the restaurant industry during the judging last week at Schenectady Community College.”

The national competition features the Putnam five going up against teams from 49 other states as well as from Guam, Puerto Rico and even a handful of schools from Europe.
