CARMEL, N.Y. -- Carmel High School social studies teacher Rob Buccheri was invited for the second time in two years to instruct West Point cadets on the weapons used by Civil War infantrymen.
Instruction included teaching the cadets how to load and fire an Enfield rifle-musket and explain the life of a typical soldier of that time period. The opportunity to work with cadets at the U.S. Military Academy is considered a great honor.
In addition to teaching history, Buccheri also created two Living History electives on the Revolutionary War and the Civil War; courses unique to the Carmel Central School District.
