Robert Brown, 22, and Randy Valladares, 19, both of Poughkeepsie, were nabbed by Town of Poughkeepsie police after a report of an attempted robbery around 1:50 a.m., on Saturday, 15, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Kevin Faber.

An investigation found that the victim was walking eastbound on the Dutchess Turnpike when he was approached by the two men, who then demanded money from him. When the victim resisted, Brown and Valladares began grabbing and punching the victim who managed to get away and call 911, said Faber.

The two men were located by police just west of the crime scene and taken into custody, police said.

The victim sustained injuries to his face but refused medical treatment.

Brown and Valladares were charged with two counts of attempted robbery, assault, conspiracy, and menacing.

Both are being held at the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash/$20,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in court on June 19.
