Long Island Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide Following Fatal Crash

A Long Island man has been charged with vehicular homicide following the death of motorcyclist authorities say he hit while allegedly driving under the influence.

The crash that killed a 35-year-old man took place at around 9:30 p.m., Monday, July 19, in Mineola, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, while making a left-hand “U” turn near the intersection of Old Country Road and Willis Avenue, John Marron, age 35, hit a westbound 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by the victim.

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead by a staff physician. 

An investigation revealed that Marron, of Mineola, was driving his vehicle in an intoxicated condition and was placed under arrest, police said. 

Marron was charged with:

  • Vehicular homicide
  • DWI
  • Reckless driving
  • Reckless endangerment.
