MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- Mahopac High School administrators said they were prepared to assist students in need as one of their own remains in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center, according to lohud.com.
Michael Bongiovanni, a 14-year-old student at the high school, suffered a serious head injury after he was struck by a car while skateboarding near his home Monday, according to lohud.com, which reported that he was airlifted to the hospital and, on Monday night, was on life support.
Mahopac High School Principal Adam Pease told lohud.com that the school community was praying for Bongiovanni and his family. Pease said the school is "equipped to support those in need," according to lohud.com.
The car that struck Bongiovanni was driven by a 55-year-old Mahopac woman, according to lohud.com, which reported that no criminal charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
