Beacon Superintendent Matthew Landahl said in a statement to parents on Thursday that the district became aware of the threat late Wednesday night and notified police.
"We are working closely with the Beacon Police Department on this matter and we are confident in our working with BPD that this situation is under control," he said.
An extra police officer was on campus to calm fears during the school day.
Once the threat was deemed non-credible, the superintendent said the district and the police department still take the threat seriously.
"The Beacon police department and the Beacon City School District are still treating this very seriously as both a police matter and a school disciplinary matter," Landahl said. "This is a great opportunity to remind everyone to check on their children’s social media accounts and also a reminder for our students to reach out to a teacher or administrator if they ever see something that is concerning to them."
An officer will also be on campus on Friday to help everyone feel safe, he added.
