The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of 45-year-old James Jones, who has reported an address change from Church Street to Innis Avenue in Poughkeepsie.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Jones a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.”

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Jones had sexual contact with his 5-year-old victim in March 1998. He was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse with a minor under the age of 11 in July 2000 and sentenced to a term of between 18 months and three years in state prison. Jones is now under the jurisdiction of the Poughkeepsie City Police Department.
