Covid-19: New Deaths, Hospitalizations Reported In Putnam; Latest Rundown Of Cases By Town

Several new COVID-19-related fatalities were reported in Putnam as the number of active and new cases in the county continues to rise.

New fatalities in Putnam brought the death toll to 90 since the pandemic began more than a year ago, up four from the previous week, as the county continues monitoring the latest surge of the virus in the Hudson Valley.

There are currently 228 active COVID-19 cases in Putnam, with 10 patients still being treated for the virus in hospitals across the county, up slightly from the previous week.

A total of 191,607 COVID-19 tests have been administered in Putnam since the beginning of the pandemic, resulting in a total of 9,563 laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus. 

Officials made note that more than a third of Putnam County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 33,599 shots issued. Since the vaccination program began earlier this year, 19,554 (19.77 percent) Putnam residents have completed the vaccination process and received both shots.

In Putnam, the average seven-day positive COVID-19 rate has climbed slightly to 5.4 percent.

A breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Putnam County, according to the latest information released by the Department of Health as of Monday, April 5:

  • Carmel: 3,130 (87 new);
  • Southeast: 1,656 (24);
  • Kent: 1,069 (35);
  • Putnam Valley: 945 (25);
  • Patterson: 826 (23);
  • Philipstown: 746 (10).

Statewide, a total of 1,890,420 positive COVID-19 cases have been confirmed out of more than 45.9 million tests that have been administered. There have been a total of 40,756 virus-related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic
