Putnam County pizza options may be plentiful, but they’re far from being equal in terms of quality, authenticity and freshness.

That being said, Google knows all when it comes to restaurant ratings. Here are five of the highest-rated pizza places throughout Putnam County:

  • Benvenuto’s (35 Secor Road in Mahopac)

Variety is what you’ll find at Benvenuto’s in Mahopac, which earned an impressive 4.6/5-star rating on Google. Described as an Italian eatery and family restaurant, Benvenuto’s offers gourmet brick oven pizza, square thin crust pizza and more. Specialty pies include one-of-a-kind creations like shrimp parmigiana, penne a la vodka and salad pizza (mixed greens, tomatoes, red onions, feta cheese and homemade balsamic dressing).

Another hot seller is the Benvenuto special pizza, which includes grilled zucchini, grilled eggplant, grilled portabella mushrooms and gorgonzola cheese.

  • Mike & Joe's Wood Fired Pizza & Pasta (961 Route 6 in Mahopac)

At Mike & Joe’s, which earned a 4.6/5-star Google rating, guests can indulge in all the best specialty pies, from Margherita and buffalo chicken to meat lovers, chicken bacon ranch and more. You’ll even find a few eccentric options like clam pizza, calamari pizza and chicken marsala pizza. Each pie comes in both traditional and wood-fired thin crust varieties.

The eatery also offers plenty of Italian classics like pasta, chicken, seafood and more.

  • Prato Trattoria (1892 Route 6 in the Putnam Plaza Shopping Center in Carmel)

A “trattoria” is defined as an Italian eatery that serves simple dishes. That’s exactly what guests will find at Prato, which also boasts a 4.6/5-star Google rating. However, there’s no shortage of authenticity or variety on the menu. From pizza and pasta to chicken, seafood, eggplant and more, there’s no doubt guests will find and enjoy their favorite Italian meal on the menu.

As is the case with other pizzerias on our list, Prato Trattoria offers both traditional and Sicilian-style pies with a wide array of both classic and gourmet toppings. For more information, visit the website .

  • Nonna’s Pizzeria (17 Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley)

With a 4.5/5-star rating on Google and 4.7/5 stars on Facebook, it’s safe to say that Nonna’s Pizzeria is a top contender for the best Putnam County pies - and perhaps other Italian classics as well. While Nonna’s serves up all the best traditional specialty brick oven pies, you’ll also find some eccentric options like Chicken Scarpariello (chicken breast sautéed with hot cherry peppers and sausage in a white wine sauce), Italian Vegetarian (eggplant, spinach, roasted red peppers and garlic) and Baked Ziti (ziti pasta with ricotta, mozzarella and marinara).

Another popular specialty pie is the Frutti Di Mare, which includes shrimp, scallops, clams and calamari in marinara or Fra Diavolo sauce.

  • Putnam Lake Pizza (65 Fairfield Drive in Patterson)

Last but not least on our list of top-rated Putnam County pizzerias is Putnam Lake Pizza, which earned an impressive 4.6/5-star Google rating and has been serving the community since 1982.

PLP claims to offer the best New York-style pizza north of New York City, which can’t be too far from the truth, judging by the restaurant’s 4.7/5-star Facebook rating. Like the other eateries on our list, PLP serves plenty of pasta and Italian specialties. However, the pizzeria is also known for making its own homemade soups, including cream of chicken, beef barley, pasta Fagioli, chicken orzo and more.

There’s certainly no shortage of pizza options in Putnam County, especially with these top-rated restaurants. Bon Appetit!
