Winkler, actor, producer, author, and literacy advocate, turns 72 Monday.
He was born in New York City on Oct. 30, 1945, and graduated from Yale School of Drama.
Best known for his role as Fonzie on the 1970s sitcom "Happy Days," Winkler went on to earn acclaim for a variety of acting roles on stage, screen, and television.
Though he suffered from dyslexia as a child, Winkler's gone on to collaborate on a series of children's books about Hank Zipzer, who is dyslexic.
He also tours schools annually to read excerpts from his Hank Zipzer books.
