KENT, N.Y. -- Before firing up the barbecue this Memorial Day weekend, stock up on some summer reading during the Friends of the Kent Public Library annual book sale in the Kent Public Library Book Cellar on Friday, May 27, and Saturday, May 28.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., will include more than 4,000 gently used books for sale at bargain prices.

The donated books have been carefully sorted through, and only the best will be offered for sale. Most hardcover books cost $2, with many paperbacks on sale at five for $1.

Children's books are either two for $1 or six for $1. CDs and DVDs will be on sale for $1 each. There will also be some collectible and first edition books at higher prices.

Buyers are encouraged to bring their own bags or boxes to carry their books home. Friends of Kent Public Library canvas bags will also be for sale for $10 (or for $25 filled with books, excluding specialty editions).

The Book Cellar can accommodate 49 people at a time, so buyers who come at an especially crowded time may have to wait their turn to enter.

For more information, visit www.KentLibrary.org . The Kent Library's Book Nook is open throughout the year at 17 Sybil's Crossing, Kent Lakes.
