PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- July 4 is just around the corner, and no doubt you're already thinking about the best perch for picnicking and pyrotechnics. What follows is a sampling of where to go to make your holiday pop. Feel free to add any we've missed on our Facebook page.

Saturday, July 2

Southeast: The annual fireworks display goes from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Independence Way, (DeCicco's Parking Lot). The event will include 30 minutes of fireworks and a concert featuring Tony T and the City Express Band, plus guests.

Sunday, July 3

Kent: Watch the night sky light up over Lake Carmel at 9:15 p.m. Rain date: Saturday, July 9.
Cold Spring: The Hudson River is the backdrop for the annual fireworks display. Come to Dockside Park at dusk for the celebration honoring America's 240th birthday.
