During the event, early childhood consultant Kristen Ancker led the group in a Positive Discipline Parent Workshop.

Ancker, a former school administrator and teacher, shared long-term parenting skills that encourage children to think independently, become more responsible and have a greater respect for themselves and others.

“We are delighted that Mrs. Ancker joined us for this fun evening," Grainne Bellotti, director and teacher at Pound Ridge Montessori School, said in a statement. "Her philosophy of positive discipline blends nicely with our school’s Montessori approach and emphasis on independence, freedom within limits and respect for the child.”

The event included drinks and appetizers by O’Neill’s Pub & Restaurant, silent auction items and a raffle.

Proceeds from the event will go toward installing a vegetable garden at the school, which was home to a working farm until 1939.
