I hung up the phone and said, “This woman, Diane Briggs, is an absolute star. She is articulate, informed, reasonable, friendly, knows her neighbors like her family, has been in town for twenty years and knows the value of a buck.”

I have been involved in service to the town for over 25 years (Democratic Party, Lions Club, PRES PTA and BCSD Board of Education). I have seen many fine candidates: Nancy Jane Woolley, Pearl Glassman, Homer Schoen, Ali Boak, Dan Paschkes, Ira Clair and, for the BCSD Board of Ed, Dot Fallon. Diane ranks as one of the very best.

Diane is a people-oriented person. She has raised funds for not-for-profits for over 30 years. This work requires her to understand people’s motives and desires and to search out their opinions. She must articulate a vision and incorporate the visions of others in order to attain a concrete goal. Diane has had to appreciate the value of a dollar given up by a family.

Diane is a nurturer. She has raised three children while in Pound Ridge; she actively cares for her many neighbors in the Trinity Lane community; and she is instrumental in rescuing and finding homes for abandoned pets.

Diane will use these abilities to bring greater discussion and openness to the town board. She will respond to the ideas and complaints of the townspeople. Her voice will help guide the board to resolving problems that have plagued the town for decades.

While on the phone with Diane, she spoke about the absolute thrill she had marching with fellow Pound Ridgers at the Women’s March in Washington. She told me how important it was to raise one’s voice to make sure what needs to get done gets done. She is a star.
