Pound Ridge Cops Charge Ridgefield Man With DWI

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge police arrested a Ridgefield, Conn. man early Saturday morning and charged him with driving while intoxicated.

Police said they pulled over a car on Westchester Avenue at around 3:15 a.m. for a routine traffic stop. Officers said during the interview they detected an odor of alcohol on the driver. He was then subjected to a field sobriety test, which police said he failed.

Police arrested Joseph C. Waite, 24, of Ridgefield and charged him with DWI, a misdemeanor. He also was issued a summons for failure to keep right. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and then released on $240 bail. Waite is due back in court Oct. 1.

The following items were also reported by the Pound Ridge police:

Police arrested a Yonkers man Thursday and charged him aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, after they said he failed to stop for a school bus on Pound Ridge Road. After stopping the vehicle, police said a check revealed Jose Sanchez, 33, of Yonkers, had a suspended New York driver’s license. He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and transported to police headquarters. He also was issued summonses for failure to stop for a school bus, having an unsecured load and having no fire extinguisher. Sanchez was released on $200 bail and is due back in court Oct. 1.

On Friday, police were called to a business on Westchester Avenue for a fraud report. Police were told someone had attempted to open a credit card in the company’s name. The card was never issued but a police reported was requested by the credit card company for investigative purposes.

Police were called Saturday to Trinity Pass Road on a report of shots being fired. Officers discovered a resident teaching his son how to use a BB gun in a safe environment. No further problems were reported.

Police were called Monday to Eastwoods Road on a trespass complaint. Officers discovered two men fishing on the property, which police said was properly posted. The two were warned and released. No further problems were reported.
