Long Island Man Attacks Two Cops Attempting To Arrest Him After Assault, Police Say

A 46-year-old Long Island man was arrested following a domestic dispute in which he allegedly attacked two police officers, sending both to the hospital.

Nassau County Police said the incident took place around 10 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, in Westbury when officers responded to a report of an assault.

According to detectives, when officers arrived at a home on Gordon Avenue for a domestic dispute, they spoke with a 49-year-old woman who had allegedly been assaulted by Miguel Jimenez, of Westbury.

Jimenez was found hiding in the basement of the residence inside a closet. When officers attempted to take him into custody, he allegedly became combative, police said.

Once under arrest, Jimenez allegedly became extremely combative on the way to the police cruiser, and began flailing his legs, police said.

 He then proceeded to head-butt one officer and kick the other officer. The two officers were treated at a local hospital for their injuries. 

Jimenez was charged with:

  • Two counts of assault
  • Criminal mischief
  • Criminal obstruction of breathing/blood circulation
  • Resisting arrest
  • Petit larceny. 

He was also found to have two open warrants for violations and is being held for arraignment scheduled on Wednesday, May 27.
