POUND RIDGE, N.Y. The Pound Ridge Fire Department's annual haunted house event and Halloween party is still set to take place at 6 p.m. Monday night despite the power outages that have devastated the town in the wake of Saturdays snowstorm.
The firehouse is equipped with a generator that will produce enough electricity needed to hold the event.
However, the trick or treating event that was scheduled for 4 p.m. in Scotts Corners is still up in the air and will depend on the merchants ability to participate, said town officials.
In addition, community leaders have cautioned parents from letting the children trick or treat on residential streets this year.
We are discouraging regular trick or treating, said Town Supervisor Gary Warshauer. With all the tree branches and wires down, it could be dangerous.
