Pound Ridge Braces For More Of Mother Natures Wrath

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Just when you thought it was safe to go back outside, Pound Ridge residents are bracing to endure more of Mother Nature’s worst as a nor’easter bears down upon the town Wednesday with expected snow accumulations of 2-5 inches.

Pound Ridge officials are reporting NYSEG has told them its goal was to restore most of the power that was knocked out by Hurricane Sandy by Wednesday. The Westchester County Emergency Operations Center has advised them the peak of the new storm will be from 7 p.m. to midnight Wednesday with winds of 25-30 mph and gusts of 60 mph that could result in more power outages.

Lisa Katz, a Pound Ridge resident who lives on Park View Road, said her family just got its power back Monday, but they ready are for whatever the nor’easter may bring.

“We have a generator,” she said. “No cable, Internet or phone though. But given the circumstance we are very, very fortunate.”

Supervisor Gary Warshauer said NYSEG’s estimated restoration times don’t include complications it may encounter due to the significant damage imposed by the hurricane, as well as the distraction of the current storm.

“We suggest that residents currently without power be prepared for another 48 hours and hope that power is restored sooner,” he said.

Warshauer said if the NYSEG website, www.nyseg.com, shows your power restored and it is not, call 800-572-1131 or go to the website and report it.

“If service is pulled away from your house or you see wires down between your meter and the street/service pole, contact NYSEG and let them know because you may need special attention,” he said. “And don’t touch the wires.”
