He is currently serving his third term as Town Councilman. During his tenure, he hasn’t just said, “I have an idea.” He’s done something – actually many things.
He’s co-authored and adopted the following: the Comprehensive Plan; legislation for the Protection of Steep Slopes; legislation on Septic System Inspections; the Pound Ridge Winter Road Maintenance Plan; and legislation for banning animal trapping.
He has also co-authored the complete revision of the Town’s Personnel Policy Handbook and led to the bridge replacement on the bike path along Westchester Avenue. Dick also serves as the liaison to the Pound Ridge Office of Emergency Management and participates in the drills and actual emergency incidents (remember Hurricane Sandy?). He’s a member of the Town Safety Committee, the chair of the Committee on Traffic Calming for Scotts Corner, and a charter member of the Sub Committee on Septic Systems under the Westchester County Committee on Environment and Energy. Dick also created and implemented the Adopt-A-Triangle initiative that helps keep our roadway intersections maintained and beautiful at no cost to the town. Before he was a Councilman, Dick spent 16 years on the Zoning Board of Appeals (8 as the chair). His other volunteer positions include, but are not limited to: member and treasurer of the Pound Ridge Fire Department; president and treasurer of PRESA; Troop Committee Chair and treasurer of BSA Troop #1; coach of Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball; volunteer for Neighbor 2 Neighbor. Dick rightfully was the recipient of the Ernest L. Conant Good Neighbor Award and the 2012 Margery Fay Sachs Award from the PR Garden Club. His next should be your vote for him as Supervisor of the Town of Pound Ridge. Jody Sullivan
