To the editor:
Thirty-nine years ago, my family planted roots in the wonderful town of Pound Ridge, and we’ve loved every moment here. I’ve always felt if you want something to thrive and grow, you must give it love, attention and careful stewardship.
One way I’ve been able to give back to the town is by volunteering. I’ve spent the last 38 years involved in many organizations. I’ve served on the Hiram Halle Library Board and the Pound Ridge Association. I was an active member and EMT of the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps for 18 years and served two terms as its president and several terms on its board of trustees.
I have served for the past eight years as the Lay Leader and Administrative Council Chair of the Pound Ridge Community Church and have served several terms on its board of trustees and staff/parish committee. I have worked as an elections inspector for 25 years. I am an active volunteer for the Office of Emergency Management and of the Neighbor to Neighbor Program.
I’ve decided it’s time to add the town board to my list. While my husband was the town attorney for 32 years, I didn’t feel it would be appropriate to get into the “governing” aspect of the town. With his retirement from that position, I’ve decided it’s my turn. I love the charm and character of this town.
I am never opposed to “progress,” but I want to be sure changes are made with care and concern for your pocketbooks, not just “change for change sake.” I have been in town through eight different supervisors’ terms and Dick Lyman has proven to be the most effective, efficient, knowledgeable and caring of them all. I want to work with Dick Lyman and support his proven leadership together with the town board to help be responsible stewards of our hometown.
I am proud to run with him, Dave Dow, Hilary Kao and Joanne Pace. I hope I can count on your support and vote Nov. 3.
Jody Sullivan, Town Council Candidate
