Pound Ridge Library Hosts Community Read Of 'Unbroken'

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- The Pound Ridge Library will host a series of events in October that center around a community read of author Laura Hillenbrand’s “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption.”

Things will kick off with a concert of World War II songs and stories featuring Samantha Pearlman and Friends at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4.

All events will take place at the library, 271 Westchester Ave., Pound Ridge.

A panel discussion of the book is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15. The panelists are: Robert DiYanne, a professor of humanities and an instructional consultant with the Center for the Advancement of Teaching at New York University; Bill Costanza, a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of English and Film; and Ned Peterson, an analyst and engagement manager at Ergo, a New York-based global intelligence and advisory firm.

A screening of the film “Unbroken,” which was directed by Angelina Jolie and stars Jack O’Connell and Garrett Hedlund, is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. A screening of the film’s special features will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29.

Light refreshments will be served at both screenings.
