Pound Ridge Artist to Exhibit in New York City

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge artist Susan Grissom’s work is heading to the Big Apple as part of the upcoming Affordable Art Fair.

The idea behind the fair, as its organizers say on the Affordable Art website, is "shaking up the model of art as an elite pastime" and showcasing new artists, galleries, programming and installations.

Grissom is an award-winning painter, printmaker and photographer. Her work, displayed on the Susan Grissom Fine Art website, is described as incorporating "age, texture, primitive symbolism and a strong sense of color in a modern way." Current projects focus on what Grissom terms "disaster art" and use as inspiration industrial and environmental subjects.

Grissom is the director of Lionheart Gallery, which is under construction and has temporary headquarters at 67 Westchester Ave. in Pound Ridge. There it shares space with Sally Green Photography and Green's law office.

Grissom is co-chair of the Beautification and the Communications Committees for Pound Ridge Partnership and is on the committee that is planning the Oct. 15 Pound Ridge Harvest Festival. She writes two blogs: and She is working on a book about Louisiana culture, which will feature her photographs and stories.

The artist’s work will be on display at the Affordable Art Fair Fall 2011 at 7 West 34th Street near 5th Avenue from Sept. 21-25.
