Join In On One Of Pound Ridge's Proudest Moments

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – The weather forecast for Pound Ridge’s 3rd Annual Pride Day, Sunday, May 19, is “cool and dry,” (according to the National Weather Service), just right for a few hours of beautification activities and a few more hours of food, fun, games and neighborly fellowship.

Beautification Activities, from noon to 2 p.m., include planting, weeding, sweeping, collecting litter, and pitching in on anything else that will help to make Pound Ridge’s business district even more attractive and inviting than it already is.

At 2 p.m. you can wipe your brow, get a cold drink, enjoy some tasty barbecue and smile, chat, browse the exhibits and even dance, if you are so inclined, to the music of the Pete Malinverni Jazz Trio. Meanwhile, the kids can bounce on the air castle, eat all sorts of goodies, and try their luck in the hula-hoop contest. If hula-hoops do not attract them, maybe the pie-eating contest will. In fact, a few adults might like to give that a nibble, as well.

This year the Pound Ridge Partnership, sponsors of Pride Day, teamed up with The Invasives Project (TIP), an offshoot of the Henry Morgenthau Preserve Committee and the Pound Ridge Conservation Board. TIP’s goal this year is to improve and refine conditions at the Pound Ridge Town Park, with special concentration on ridding it of invasive plants such as the Mile-A-Minute vine.

Proceeds from this year’s Pound Ridge Pride Day will benefit the Green Streets Street Light Project. All improvements made through the auspices of the Pound Ridge Partnership are funded by the organization, not by the town or the tax base.
