The rescue happened on Sunday, April 30, when authorities responded to the Bronx River Parkway in White Plains under the Hamilton Avenue overpass and found a vehicle that had become stuck in the flooded southbound lanes, according to White Plains Public Safety.
The ambulette had become surrounded by over two feet of water, which was continuing to quickly rise.
When first responders saw this, they quickly sprang into action, donned their water suits without hesitation, and jumped into the water.
The two caregivers were rescued first and taken to higher ground. The patient was then carried by all first responders on the scene from the submerged vehicle up a steep embankment to a waiting White Plains ambulance on Hamilton Avenue.
The patient was then taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation, authorities said.
The flooding was the result of torrential downpours on Sunday that resulted in numerous road closures throughout Westchester.
More unsettled weather is expected to bring more showers throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service.
