Dr. Mark Melendez Takes Over Fairfield Plastic Surgery Offices

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Dr. Mark Melendez, who already has offices in Greenwich and Shelton, is the new cosmetic surgeon in charge at Fairfield Plastic Surgery in Fairfield.

A Johns Hopkins Fellowship-trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Melendez has staff privileges at Greenwich Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and St.Vincent's Hospital, among others. 

Dr. David Yan and his wife, Dr. Lisa Geer-Yan, asked Melendez to take over the practice when they decided to join a multi-disciplinary medical practice in Florida.

"I think that Mark provides a specialized set of skills that is needed in the area. Fairfield will greatly benefit from what he can bring to the community," Yan said. 

Melendez said he was pleased to take over the office. "I am deeply honored that Dr. Yan asked me to take over his medical practice," he said. "I am devoted to incorporating his practice, into my own practice, and to providing all of my patients with excellent care for all of their cosmetic and reconstructive surgery needs. 

"I also believe in a whole-body approach, to surgery, along with total patient accessibility. I provide every patient with my personal cell phone number, and I also make house calls when necessary." 

Melendez's wife, Dr. Renee Baranin-Melendez, an emergency department physician at Greenwich Hospital. They have two sons, Mark and Matthew, and live in Wilton.

Melendez performs a full spectrum of cosmetic and surgical procedures for the face, hand, breast, and body, including facial rejuvenation (Botox and fillers). He also specializes in microvascular breast reconstruction surgery, including the DIEP flap procedure, for breast cancer patients.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Melendez has pledged to donate a percentage of the profits from his breast cancer reconstruction surgeries during October, November, and December, to Susan G. Komen Connecticut. 

In addition to performing volunteer surgery at St. Raphael's Hospital in New Haven, Greenwich Hospital, and Norwalk Hospital, he also volunteers on one international medical mission each year. He has performed numerous volunteer surgeries in Vietnam and Honduras.
