Both the PCHS JV and Varsity Cheer teams are competing Feb. 11-12 in the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship.
This is the first time that the Port Chester High School JV team has attempted to earn a bid, according to Junior Varsity cheerleading coach Amanda Blasi.
The school’s Varsity team, coached by Chezdis Sanchez-Bors and Melissa Pennino, earned their bid at the Northeast Championship in November. Last year, they also earned a bid to Nationals, placing 4th in the nation in their division.
“Congratulations to everyone, but especially PCJV for this awesome accomplishment,” said Coach Sanchez-Bors.
The National High School Cheerleading Championship is the most prestigious cheerleading championship in the country. The event will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando and will be televised on ESPN and ESPN2.
