Westchester Man With Suspended License Faces Aggravated DWI Charge

A man with a suspended license has been charged with aggravated DWI after a traffic stop on Route 9, according to police.

New York State Police initiated a vehicle stop on State Route 9 in the village of Croton-on-Hudson for a traffic violation on Thursday, March 21 around 3:30 a.m.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as 34-year-old Diego Aucapina Jarama of Ossining, was allegedly driving while intoxicated. Officers also discovered that he had a suspended license as a result of a previous DWI arrest.

Aucapina Jarama was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a Class E felony.

Aucapina Jarama was arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or secure bond. He is scheduled to appear at the village of Croton-on-Hudson Court on Wednesday, March 27.
