Accused Dealer Taken Into Custody In New Canaan After Police Respond To Report Of Deceased Man

A 33-year-old man has been arrested for being an alleged dealer after police say they discovered drugs in plain sight at his home while responding on a call for a deceased elderly man.

John Major of New Canaan was arrested on Monday, March 18, on an active warrant by New Canaan Police, said New Canaan Police Lt. Jason Ferraro. 

Police originally became of aware of Major while responding to a report of an elderly male that had died at a residence on River Street on Feb. 12, Ferraro said.

While at the home, investigators discovered in plain view a large amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, he said. A follow-up investigation led to the warrant for Major.

On Monday, March 18, police served the arrest warrant, and again, drugs and paraphernalia were in plain sight, Ferraro said.

Major was charged with possession with intent to sell, use and possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.

He was released after posting $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 28.
