Worker Killed After Falling Into Mixing Machine At Area Cheese Company

A 41-year-old man was killed after falling into a mixing machine at the Icco Cheese Company in Rockland County.

The incident took place around 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the plant on Olympic Drive in Orangeburg, said Orangetown Police Sgt. James Sullivan.

When officers arrived on the scene of the accident they were directed to a mixing machine where they found a male employee, Edwin Nunez, of Paterson, New Jersey, inside of the machine, Sullivan said.

Rockland paramedics responded and pronounced Nunez dead on the scene, he added.

Nunez was assigned to this machine as his work station.

The incident is being investigated as an accident. OSHA was notified and is conducting the investigation. 

Rockland Paramedics, South Orangetown Ambulance Corps, and the Rockland Medical Examiner assisted at the scene.
