Westchester Native Robert Gerosa Named Captain Of USS Constitution

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle native and 1991 Iona Prep graduate Robert Gerosa Jr. was named the new captain of the USS Constitution, Boston's WCVB 5 reported.

Gerosa assumed command Friday, replacing Sean Kearns.

The Constitution is the world's oldest active warship, and is in the process of a multiple-year restoration project, according to WCVB 5.

Gerosa previously served in Kosovo, and was part of relief efforts in New York and Washington D.C. after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, as well as in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, according to WCVB 5.
