Though it has only been open since last November, it has already established itself as Yohighest-ratedt rated Southeast Asian restaurant, boasting 4.5 stars out of 31 reviews on Yelp

Hapag, which means “long table” in Tagalog, is the county’s first Filipino restaurant, according to Westchester Magazine. Authentic ingredients and preparation methods are used every step of the way. Just take it from Jenelyn Berbano, one of the restaurant’s four owners:

“Many cuisines have come to the U.S. and have been altered with a little bit of a twist — nontraditional ingredients are added, or heat is modified or the like. My partners and I discussed this, and we didn’t want to Americanize what we served,” Berbano told Westchester Magazine. “From the preparation to the ingredients to the way we present the dishes, it’s traditional cooking like you would have back home.”

On the menu, you’ll find classics like lumpia (fried spring rolls), liempo (grilled pork belly), adobo (pork or chicken braised in garlic, oil, vinegar and soy sauce), pinkabet (a type of vegetable stir fry) and much more.

Hapag Filipino Cuisine is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit its Facebook page.
