The winning authors are:

  • Jillian Frank – poem, "Morning"
  • Benjamin Hahn – comic origin story, "The Pineapple and The Gazelle"
  • Elliot Powell – poem, "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness"
  • Victoria Stargiotti – poem, "She Remembers"

According to a statement from the middle school, the science fiction story, “Mission Fragmentor” by Elizabeth Hayes, and the poem, “Change,” by Lauren Peacock, were named contest runners-up.

All submissions were judged by author and contest co-sponsor Joe Wallace and four student winners of last year’s 11th Grade Writing Contest, according to the middle school, which said that the young author's names were left off each entry to allow the judges to complete their work without bias.

The contest also was co-sponsored by The Village Bookstore, according to the middle school.
