PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Hundreds of camera-happy parents converged upon Pleasantville High School on Thursday evening to see their tuxedo-clad and gown-wearing children off to the senior prom.
Continuing Pleasantville's decades-long tradition, students arrived at the circle in front of the high school for a preprom ceremony. After about an hour of personal picture-taking with friends and family members, the students gathered in front of the school for a class picture.
"It's a really nice tradition," said Julie Schwartz, director of communications for the school district. "It makes it a community event, not just a senior event."
After the final picture was taken, the students filled four buses, which carried them back and forth to the prom site.
