At the event, Pace Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Bill McGrath spoke of the high priority Pace gives to placing interns and its ranking as number five in the nation and number one in New York State for internship placement according to “U.S. News and World Report.” McGrath is also a member of the Coalition for Business Development and a board member of the Business Council of Westchester. The Westchester-Putnam Internship Connex program was developed by the Westchester-Putnam Workforce Investment Board (WIB) in partnership with 13 area colleges and universities, the Business Council of Westchester and other businesses. The program matches students in specific fields of study with local businesses needing workers with those skills.
More than 90 businesses and almost every college in the two counties have signed up to participate. Among them are Regeneron, WestMed, Candela Systems, Buzz Creators, ArtsWestchester, The New NY Bridge, Harquin Creative and the Westchester Bar Association. Pace University will promote Connex to its student body, assist students in the application process and support students during their internships. Pace business major Idia Ogala spoke at the launch of his internship experiences at Silverback Social in White Plains. “Every opportunity is a stepping stone,” he said. “My internship experience has been incredible.”
