Mandel is a professor of media and communication arts in the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences at Pace’s Pleasantville campus.
For many years, Pace has sent the largest team from a college or university to the event, an achievement the organization also honored.
“It is a wonderful feeling knowing that for the past 23 years Pace has played a major role in helping to collect millions of dollars toward the eradication of breast cancer,” Mandel said. “Our participation helps the Greater New York City Affiliate of Komen to give out millions of dollars of grant money to more than 30 hospitals, health facilities, and local organizations to be used for research, clinical trials, mammograms, patient navigation, and more.
“I spoke with some of our winning team members after our own wonderful student, Elissa Casa, picked up the award for biggest team,” Mandel added. “They were euphoric. They had wonderful feelings about giving back to their community and giving back to Pace.”
Members of the Pace University softball, volleyball, and cheerleading teams were among those who participated in this year’s event in September. For more information on the annual race, visit www.komennyc.org.
