This year’s expo is taking place at the Westchester County Center (198 Central Avenue) in White Plains between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. During this time, participants can attend a variety of workshops on subjects like affordable housing, rental housing, resources for down payments, closing costs, property improvements and more.

These workshops are designed to answer any number of major questions about the path to homeownership and affordable housing, including:

  • Affordable housing eligibility
  • Affordable housing locations
  • Funds needed for a down payment
  • Role of real estate professionals in the home buying process
  • Programs that help with down payments and closing costs
  • Deciding between renting and owning a property

A variety of housing professionals will also be on site to provide real estate guidance, from realtors and lenders to not-for-profit counselors. The event is co-sponsored by Westchester County, Westchester Interfaith Housing Corporation, Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors, Inc., Emigrant Mortgage, Apple Bank and PCSB Bank.

“Safe, affordable housing should be a basic right for everyone living in Westchester County, and an essential building block in developing stronger, more diverse communities,” said Westchester County Executive George Latimer. “The Affordable Housing Expo is a great opportunity to learn more about the County’s Affordable Housing application process, and the County’s commitment to helping all residents achieve home ownership.”
