The fire started around 2 p.m. Tuesday at the center located on Railroad Avenue, said Bedford Hills Fire Chief Jason Nickson.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within four minutes of the initial call and immediately went to work including searching the structure, said Nickson.
Some 75 firefighters were able to knock down the fire after battling the flames for about 30 minutes.
About a quarter of the center's main entrance area was damaged by the blaze. The cause is under investigation, but signs point to it being electrical in nature.
The center said on its Facebook page, they were thankful for the fire and police departments for responding so quickly.
"We owe tremendous gratitude to the Bedford Hills, Mt Kisco and Katonah Fire Dept. as well as the local police dept. Within minutes of the call, several trucks arrived and the fire was put out with incredible speed and strength. Many in the Fire Dept are volunteers and we are very thankful to them," the wrote.
Center officials said Shabbat morning services will take place in the Katonah Memorial House for the next few months.
