Troopers responded to Bower Road in the town of Pleasant Valley for a report of a burglary on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

An investigation found 21-year-old Christian Rivera of Wappinger illegally entered a residence and stole multiple items including an LG television, Xbox console, Amazon Fire tablet, a watch, and a gold necklace, state police said. The stolen items were then recovered from the possession of 23-year-old Ashley Kelly of Poughkeepsie, according to police.

On Wednesday, Jan. 30, police charged Rivera with second-degree burglary, a Class C felony, and Ashley A. Kelly, age 23, of Poughkeepsie, with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a Class E felony.

Rivera, who had fled the area, was located and arrested in conjunction with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the city of Beacon Police Department.

Kelly was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Pleasant Valley Court.

Rivera was arraigned before the town of Stanford Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. Rivera was scheduled for a preliminary hearing before the Pleasant Valley Court.
