East Northport Man, 29, Drove Drunk With 5-Year-Old In SUV, Police Say

The man, identified as Ross Nonnenmacher, was pulled over around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 in East Northport, Suffolk County Police said.

Nonnenmacher, of East Northport, was driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue southbound on Tompkins Street with his 5-year-old son in the vehicle when he was stopped by Second Precinct Patrol officers.

Nonnenmacher was arrested and transported to the Second Precinct. The 5-year-old was released to the custody of a family member. The Nissan was impounded.

Second Squad detectives charged Nonnenmacher with driving while intoxicated (prior conviction – felony), aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years old or younger (Leandra’s Law), endangering the welfare of a child, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a motor vehicle without a required interlock device. 

Nonnenmacher was held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday, Oct. 6.
