News Grows Recycling Advocacy

PleasantvilleRecycles.Org hosted their first annual PleasantvilleRecycles Day Saturday at Pleasantville’s Recycling Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 4.

“We are here to raise awareness about recycling,” said Christine Simon Ogryzlo, a member of the PleasantvilleRecycles team. “We’re asking people to bring their old electronics as well as cell phones and batteries here to be recycled.”

Residents can bring paper, cans, bottles, CFLs, bulk metal, computer monitors and TVs to be recycled at the Recycling Center the first Saturday of every month. There is  also free compost at the center, made from decomposed leaves.

PleasantvilleRecycles.Org offers a free raffle for two free tickets to the Pleasantville Music Festival, July 9 at Parkway Field, for anyone you came to the recycling center on Saturday.

“We’re rewarding people for doing the right thing,” Orgyzlo said.

This is their second event as an organization after being stationed at Pleasantville Day, May 21.

“The more you recycle, the more money you save, it’s a win, win situation,” said team member Sharon AvRutick. “Our role is to get the word out on how to do it right, to get people to be more critical about how to dispose of this stuff.”
