New York State Police troopers were called to the northbound lanes of the Sprain Brook Parkway at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Elmsford, where there was a report of a "serious motor vehicle crash" near the I-287 entrance ramp.

The initial crash forced the closure of the right and center lanes on the parkway.

According to police, a mini-school bus from All County Bus being operated by Yonkers resident Crisfanny Acosta Hernandez, 31, struck two vehicles, and a pedestrian involved in the initial incident while he was driving by the area of the crash.

The investigation into the four-vehicle crash determined that Acosta Hernandez passed a 2020 BMW X5 on the right, which was blocking part of the center and right lanes after the initial collision. Acosta Hernandez struck the BMW X5 and the barrier before striking the BMW's operator, Richard Snisky, 85, of Thornwood.

Snisky had been standing in the roadway between the BMW and jersey barrier, police said. Acosta Hernandez then struck a second vehicle before coming to rest. Snisky was transported to the Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Sprain Brook Parkway was reopened shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Check Daily Voice for updates.
