Monroe Township police said there was a recent invasion of a northside neighborhood in which multiple suspects ransacked several cars and homes at once. The suspects typically came into the neighborhoods in stolen vehicles, Monroe police said.

In one case, suspects fled after a confrontation with a homeowner, police said, but left with a number of stolen items.

"We would like to take this time again to remind our residents about locking your car doors! In almost all motor vehicle burglaries, the vehicles were left unlocked," Monroe Township police wrote on their Facebook page. "In almost all motor vehicle thefts, the vehicles were left unlocked and keys/key fobs were left inside the vehicle."

Detectives are currently investigating these cases. If anyone has any video footage from these incidents that could assist detectives, they are asked to please call. 732-521-0222 ext. 514.

South River police issued a similar warning about recent car and home break-ins on their Facebook page.

"Additionally, there has been a recent increase in thefts of unattended motor vehicles which were left running," South River police wrote. In these cases, suspects quickly enter and steal a motor vehicle that was left running by the owner, typically in front of their residence while the vehicle is left to warm up or outside of a business while the owner briefly enters the business, police said.

South River residents are requested to report any suspicious activity by calling 732-238-1000 or 9-1-1.
