The Mount Pleasant Police Department announced on Friday morning that a boil water advisory has been issued for approximately 170 homes that are served by the Kensico Water District. The boil water advisory will be in effect until the water main break is repaired.

According to officials, the repair was completed last night on Thursday, Jan. 17 and Kensico Water District will collect water samples for testing from the repaired water main on Friday and the samples will be analyzed for bacteriological contaminants. The advisory will be in effect at least until Sunday, Jan. 20.

The boil water advisory was hand-delivered to the affected residences by the Town of Mt. Pleasant personnel.

Following a water main break, residents in the area are advised to boil their water for at least a minute before using it to drink, cook, bake, wash dishes, create ice cubes, or brush their teeth. Water does not need to be boiled for showering or washing clothes.
