Pleasantville Eatery Should Slow Down, Spice Up, Says New York Times

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- You might leave Gyro World feeling a little rushed, but you will never leave the newish Pleasantville eatery hungry, says a recent review by The New York Times.

The eponymous gyro is made of meat (normally pork, chicken, beef or lamb) cooked on a vertical rotisserie on a pita and topped with tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce made of yogurt, cucumbers and garlic.

Portions are huge at the family-friendly Greek restaurant, but it needs to slow down the delivery of food a tad to allow in-house diners to savor their meals, and could spice things up a bit with more garlic in certain dishes, The New York Times review said.

The Times reviewer liked the restaurant’s lamb chops, egg-lemon soup, warm pita bread, moussaka and yogurt with honey and walnuts.

Gyro World, which opened at 501 Marble Ave. last year, earned a rating of “fair” from The New York Times.

If Greek cuisine isn’t your thing, Gyro World also serves “classics” such as burgers and chicken fingers.
