"Heart and Seoul: Growing Up in Korea," runs through Jan. 8 and aims to brings modern-day South Korea to Norwalk.
Five modern-day Korean kids will give attendees an intimate look into their lives through their diverse interests, customs and ambitions.
The goal of "Heart and Seoul: Growing Up in Korea" is to immerse attendees in learning experiences that will build an understanding of the Korean culture.
The exhibit is broken down into the following areas:
- Korea Plaza: “Hang out” with Korean kids and “text” them questions about what life is like in Seoul.
- Korea K-Pop Stars Studio: Take the stage of the K-Pop TV studio and watch yourself “perform” with K-Pop stars.
- Animation Studio: Check out a stop-motion animation station and draw an animated story.
- Tae Kwon Do Studio: Match moves with Korean children who are experts.
- Restaurant: Dine in an authentic Korean restaurant.
- Apartment: Experience Lunar New Year, learn to bow, wear a traditional dress or play the game yut nori.
- Classroom: Learn how to speak and write Hangul, listen to folktales and play traditional drums.
- Hanok Guest House: Draw an ancestor and bow to experience the Jesa Table tradition. Check out the rollup floor mat and view a folk tale.
“We are excited to host this exhibit at Stepping Stones because it aligns perfectly with our promise to broaden and enrich the educational opportunities of children and to enhance their understanding of the world,” said Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill, Director of Exhibit Design and Delivery. “While there is a rich cultural diversity found in our own backyard, the Heart and Seoul exhibit will provide a valuable opportunity for our young visitors to experience what it is like to grow up in another part of the world.”
