Man Drowns While Swimming At Pond In Area, Police Say
A man died after jumping into an area pond and then failed to resurface. The incident took place around 12:40 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, in Rockland County at the pond located at Memorial Park in Spring Valley. Spring Valley fire and police responded to the park after receiving a report of a man who was swimming in the water, went under, and never resurfaced, said Spring Valley PD Detective Matt Galli. Mother Indicted In Connection To Death Of 1-Year-Old Son In Hudson Valley
A Hudson Valley mother has been indicted for manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide following the death of her 1-year-old son died after becoming stuck between a bed and a wall. Rockland County resident Marie Dorleus, age 36, of Spring Valley, was indicted on Monday, June 28 for the death which took place on Saturday, June 19, while the toddler was left home alone with two other children ranging in age from one to 6-years-old for several hours, said Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh. Teen Found Lying In Roadway Dead From Multiple Gunshots In Area, Police Say
An 18-year-old teen was found shot dead lying in a Hudson Valley roadway. The shooting took place around 9:50 p.m., Monday, May 31, in Rockland County. A Spring Valley Police officer was on patrol on Crispus Attucks Road and heard multiple gunshots in the area, Detective Matthew Galli said. Responding officers found a male lying in the roadway on Rose Avenue where he was pronounced dead, Galli said. The teen suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. A corrections officer was injured after an alleged violent attack by an inmate who refused to enter his cell in the Hudson Valley. Body Found On Palisades Parkway
Click here for an updated story: ID Released For Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Palisades Parkway A body was found along the Palisades Interstate Parkway overnight in Rockland County. The body was discovered on the southbound side near Exit 12 in Pomona at around 11 p.m. Friday, July 3. State police closed all lanes during the subsequent investigation that lasted for several hours. The Rockland County Sheriff's Office also responded.
