The storm system that swept through the area on Halloween Day through the overnight has brought about a big change in the weather pattern. The arrival of the cold front will bring about a big drop in temperatures, with lows between the upper 20s to mid 30s overnight into Saturday morning, Nov. 2. The rainfall from a strong storm system that swept through the area has moved east, but damaging winds remain. Winds out of the west at 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour during the day on Friday, Nov. 1 could cause more power outages. Sustained gusty winds have resulted in hundreds of residents losing power Saturday in the area. At 3:45 p.m., Con Ed is reporting more than 600 outages in Westchester. There are 100 power outages among NYSEG customers, with the majority coming in Northern Westchester. Did you remember to change your clock? Daylight Saving Time went into effect at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 12, marking its 100th year. Local officials also recommend checking and changing batteries on smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
