Helping Hands Needed For Bridgeport's Great ThanksGiving Project BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport Rescue Mission officials are looking for some helping hands to prepare for the annual Great ThanksGiving Project, which provdes food and clothing to around 3,000 working poor families in coastal Fairfield County.Individuals and groups are being encouraged to donate turkeys and other food items, along with coats and winter wear. Monroe Police Charge Bridgeport Woman With Using Drugs In Front Of Child MONROE, Conn. -- A 21-year-old Bridgeport woman is facing charges after Monroe police responded to a report that she was using heroin in her car with her young child in the backseat Wednesday night, according to the Connecticut Post.Cynthia Fernandes, 21, of Park Avenue, Bridgeport, was arrested while parked in the Goodwill parking lot on Monroe Turnpike, according to the Connecticut Post. Volunteers Pitch In For Bridgeport Riverbank Cleanup Project BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- More than 30 volunteers took a recent weekend to clean up and spruce up Bridgeport's Glenwood Park to help improve the health of the Pequonnock River.Led by Save the Sound, a multistate program of the Connecticut Fund for the Environment, volunteers spent three hours weeding out invasive plants, collecting trash and planting nearly 100 native grasses and shrubs. Wartburg Fall Festival Draws Close To 1,000 To Mount Vernon Center MOUNT VERNON, N. Norman Brokaw, 89, Larchmont Native, Agent For Marilyn Monroe, Others Norman Brokaw, a native of Manhattan and Larchmont and well-known longtime William Morris agent who took credit for introducing Marilyn Monroe to baseball legend Joe DiMaggio, died Saturday in California from complications of pneumonia, according to multiple sources.
