The Cross-Country team has earned the coveted Gaffney Award for the fall season, with team GPA of 92.

The award is named for Gerard M. Gaffney, a Brother and former teacher, school president, and moderator of the hockey, football and baseball programs who died in 2008.

Of note, the GPA for Iona Prep’s entire group of 224 eligible athletes—including all levels of the fall baseball, football and soccer programs—was 90.

The award was established in 2006 as an incentive for students to balance academics and athletics.
